Jayasree Arts and Science College

The alumni of Jayasree Arts and Science College are the pride of our institution, making a mark in various fields and contributing to society. Constitution of the Alumni Association

Name The name of this Association shall be the Jayasree Arts and Science College Alumni Association, Pulpally (hereinafter referred to as “the Association” or “JASCAA”).

Office The registered office of the Association shall be at Jayasree Arts and Science College, Pulpally.

Aims and Objectives

  1. To foster and maintain a strong, lifelong connection between the alumni and Jayasree Arts and Science College.
  2. To promote the welfare and interests of the College and its current students.
  3. To provide a platform for alumni to connect, network, and support each other professionally and personally.
  4. To organize and promote educational, social, and cultural activities for the benefit of the alumni and the College community.
  5. To facilitate knowledge sharing, mentorship, and career guidance from alumni to current students.
  6. To support the College’s initiatives, projects, and development programs through contributions of expertise, resources, and funds.
  7. To institute scholarships, awards, and endowments to encourage academic excellence and support deserving students.
  8. To celebrate the achievements of alumni and showcase their contributions to society.

 Membership

  1. Eligibility: Any person who has successfully completed a course of study (Degree, Diploma, or Certificate program) at Jayasree Arts and Science College, Pulpally, shall be eligible for membership.
  2. Types of Membership: Life Member: Any eligible alumnus who pays a one-time prescribed membership fee.
  3. Annual Member: Any eligible alumnus who pays an annual prescribed membership fee.
  4. Honorary Member: Individuals who have rendered exceptional service to the College or the Association, as nominated by the Executive Committee and approved by the General Body. Honorary members shall not have voting rights.
  5. Membership Fee: The Executive Committee shall determine and revise the membership fees from time to time.
  6. Cessation of Membership: Membership shall cease upon demise, or if the Executive Committee finds a member’s conduct detrimental to the Association’s objectives, following due process.

Administration

The administration of the Association shall be vested in an Executive Committee (hereinafter referred to as “the Committee”), elected for this purpose.

  • The Committee shall consist of:
    1. Patrons: The Manager and principal of Jayasree Arts and Science College, Pulpally (ex-officio).
    2. President: An alumnus elected by the General Body.
    3. Vice President(s): One or more alumni elected by the General Body.
    4. Secretary: An alumnus elected by the General Body.
    5. Treasurer: An alumnus elected by the General Body.
    6. Joint Secretary(s): One or more alumni elected by the General Body.
    7. Executive Members: A suitable number of alumni elected by the General Body (e.g., 5-10 members).
    8. Faculty Coordinator(s): One or more faculty members nominated by the Principal to liaise with the Association. (These are non-voting members).
  1. Term of Office: The term of office for the elected Executive Committee members shall be for a period of two years (or a period deemed suitable by the college, e.g., one year).
  2. Continuity: A Committee once elected shall continue to hold office until a new committee duly assumes charge.

 Powers and Responsibilities of the Executive Committee

The Executive Committee shall be empowered to:

  1. Manage all affairs of the Association in line with its Aims and Objectives.
  2. Formulate policies, rules, and regulations for the effective functioning of the Association.
  3. Plan and execute various activities and events for alumni engagement and College support.
  4. Prepare and approve the annual budget and financial statements.
  5. Authorize expenditures and manage the Association’s funds.
  6. Convene and conduct meetings of the Committee and the General Body.
  7. Appoint sub-committees for specific tasks or events as needed.
  8. Maintain accurate records of all activities, membership, and financial transactions.

Duties of the Office Bearers

Meetings

  1. General Body Meeting (GBM): The supreme authority of the Association. An Annual General Body Meeting (AGBM) shall be held at least once a year. Special General Body Meetings can be convened as needed.
  2. Executive Committee Meetings: Shall be held regularly (e.g., once every quarter) or as deemed necessary by the President or a majority of Committee members.
  3. Quorum: Specific quorum requirements for GBMs and Executive Committee meetings will be defined in the Bye-laws.
  4. Notice: Adequate notice period will be given for all meetings as per the Bye-laws.

 Financial Management

  1. The financial year of the Association shall be from April 1st to March 31st.
  2. All funds shall be deposited in a bank account in the name of the Association and operated jointly by designated office bearers (e.g., President and Treasurer, or Secretary and Treasurer).
  3. Proper accounts shall be maintained and audited annually.

Amendments

This Constitution or any part thereof may be altered, amended, or repealed by a two-thirds majority vote of the members present and voting at a General Body Meeting, provided due notice of such proposed amendments has been given.

Dissolution 

In the event of the dissolution of the Association, its assets, after settling all liabilities, shall be transferred to Jayasree Arts and Science College, Pulpally, or another charitable organization with similar objectives, as decided by the General Body.
